He is a passionate farmer and knows the importance of keeping his farm running smoothly. However, due to a back injury, Wayne’s mobility is limited, making it difficult for him to farm. To make his work easier, Wayne needed a utility tractor with an added loader bucket to pick up fallen trees, and debris, and maintain his long gravel driveway.
Wayne placed an ad in a newspaper in search of a utility tractor. Someone read the ad and contacted Wayne, referring him to PATF. He reached out to PATF for a Low-Interest Loan program to help purchase the utility tractor, which allowed him to keep his horses. “Without the tractor, maintaining the farm would have been impossible. I would have been forced to find a new home for my horses. I thought a loan was out of reach, but they helped and made it possible,” Wayne explained.
Wayne reflects on his experience with PATF, saying, “The application process went well. If I didn’t understand something, Carmella, the Program Associate, explained it to me. This program is a good opportunity for people with disabilities.” When he isn’t farming, Wayne takes pleasure in fishing, bike riding, and other outdoor recreation.
