During PATF’s Annual Board Meeting on June 21, 2022, long-time disability advocate, Lisa Bryant, joined PATF’s Board of Directors after a unanimous vote.
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – Philadelphia-based journalist and disability rights advocate Lisa Bryant has been elected to the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF).
At its annual June board meeting, current PATF members consider new candidates. Bryant was tapped for her experience amplifying the voice of the disability community and is the Board’s newest member, receiving a unanimous vote.
Bryant currently serves as Second Vice President of the Keystone Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind, the oldest and largest nationwide advocacy organization of the blind. As a freelance journalist, Bryant has written for such platforms as Generocity, Billy Penn, FunTimes and The Braille Monitor, with a focus on nonprofits, and issues impacting African-Americans and the blind and low-vision community.
A Temple University alumn with a degree in journalism, Bryant is also co-host of the official podcast of the National Federation of the Blind of PA, White Canes Connect, and a contributor to Blind Abilities.
This past April, Bryant became a graduating fellow of the Constellation Leadership Initative, a seven-month training, coaching and mentoring program, supporting media professionals of color. Bryant also has a background in fundraising, having been development officer at Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia for six years.
“I am thrilled and honored to have been nominated to PATF’s Board, whose mission is personal for me. As an assistive technology user, I know first-hand about the absolute necessity of having this equipment and the financial barriers that hinder that access. I am looking forward to being part of the solution, helping Pennsylvanians obtain the assistive technology devices they need to thrive and maintain their independence,” said Bryant.
“We are excited that Lisa has joined our Board of Directors. We look forward to working with Lisa as she shares her experience with fundraising, creating podcasts, and connecting with users of assistive technology,” said PATF CEO Susan Tachau.
