Consider a Monthly Donation

When you donate to PATF via PayPal, you can make your donation a monthly gift. Just set your donation amount and check the “make this a monthly donation” button.

Donate in honor of / in memory of…

When you make your gift, specify that you are donating in honor of or in memory of someone or something that is important to you. When appropriate, we will send an additional acknowledgement that a gift was made in their honor or memory. On PayPal you can “write a note” with the name and address of the honoree, or include it in the memo line on your check.

Matching Gifts

You may be able to double, or even triple, the impact of your gift by using your employer’s matching gift program. Check with your human resources department or your community giving department. Much of the necessary information may also be available on your company’s intranet.

Many employers offer matching gift programs, but did you know donor-advised fund gifts and stock gifts often get matched?

Other Ways to Give

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact to certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare. Amounts distributed as a QCD can be counted toward satisfying your RMD for the year, up to $100,000. The QCD is excluded from your taxable income.

  • If you are 70 ½ or older, QCD gifts are the best way to give. You can make the gift from a traditional IRA account.
  • If you are age 72 or older, IRS rules require you to take required minimum distributions (RMDs) each year from your tax-deferred retirement accounts.

IRA

Many people are choosing to give from their IRA instead of giving cash. Donating directly from your IRA avoids any taxes, and allows you to preserve the post-tax money that you already have.

Estate Planning / Bequest / Will

Estate Planning, bequests, or annuities allows you to create a permanent legacy while continuing to enjoy the assets needed to maintain your lifestyle. In addition to passing on assets tax free, Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation will ensure a donor’s charitable intent is permanently filled.

    Stock

You will see combined tax savings of up to 70% of your gift when you donate appreciated stocks or mutual funds. Donating appreciated assets avoids federal capital gains taxes and provides a federal income tax deduction for the current market value of the gift.

    Donor-Advised Fund

If you are a Primary Advisor for a Donor Advised Fund, you can recommend a one-time or establish a recurring grant to PATF. If you are considering a succession plan for your Donor Advised Fund, please consider naming PATF as a charitable beneficiary.

Give to United Way and Designate PATF

Designate PATF when you give to the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey with donor choice #13064.

    Giving Circle

Form a “giving circle” with your family, friends, or community. You can pool your dollars together to donate to PATF. By doing this, you learn together about PATF and your community.
