David loves fishing, playing bocce, and living independently at home. And when he’s not out taking an interest in his passions, he’s enjoying everything about his home. When he was thinking of getting a chairlift to make life easier there, he turned to Accessible America in Verona, PA, which recommended that David contact PATF for financing.
He corresponded with Sarah Love at PATF, who walked him through the loan process. “After applying for the PATF loan, things moved rather quickly — I was approved within days. Having this chairlift allows me to live safely and comfortably in my home… I couldn’t be happier,” he said.
Initially, David purchased the chairlift, and had it installed for his wife, but, sadly, she passed away before she could use it. David decided to keep the chairlift, using it to navigate from floor to floor safely. “As I get older, the concern for my safety at home grows, and I do get winded going up and down stairs, and stairs can cause falls. The lift does make taking things from one floor to the other a lot easier. I believe this will allow me to stay physically healthy for a longer time, so that I can remain active as long as I can, doing all the things that I like to do… like fishing and playing bocce,” he said.
David uses the lift to carry laundry, groceries, and many times, just himself. It not only helps David, but family members as well. His older sister uses it when she visits, making it easier for her to get around the house.
When he once prepared to travel for vacation with his son’s family, they also found it handy, using the lift to take David’s luggage from one floor to the other. “I use the chairlift more and more each day. I am forever grateful to PATF for helping people who need funding for devices and resources that make a significant difference in their lives.”
