Shirley Keith Knox, LSW, MSW joined the PATF Board of Directors in 2018. Shirley retired after over 20 years of service with Dauphin County. She served as Deputy Administrator for Intellectual Disability and Early Intervention Services. In that role, Shirley provided oversight to the county’s programs for people with disabilities, including policy, planning, monitoring, compliance, and appeals. Shirley continues to be active in the disability movement, serving as the Governor appointed CoChairperson of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.
Shirley has over 40 years experience in the disability field serving in a variety of roles: family member, teacher, direct support professional, trainer, manager, adjunct professor, volunteer, and administrator. Her areas of expertise are public policy, advocacy, and education.
Shirley is a licensed social worker and in her retirement, joined the staff at The Arc of PA as the Communications Director. She is a former recipient of the State Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Intervention’s Ronald R. Cowell Award, as well as other recognitions for her service. Shirley resides in Mechanicsburg, PA (Cumberland County) with her husband. She is the mother of two adult sons.
