Amy Beck has been the Executive Director at Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) since 1999. She holds a BA in Social Work from Elizabethtown College, and an MSW in Social Work Administration from Marywood University. She is vice President of the Pennsylvania Council on Independent Living, and serves as Secretary of the Governor appointed Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council. Ms. Beck was the President of the founding Board of LVCIL in 1990. She volunteers as a practicum instructor for Bachelor’s and Master’s level students. She is Chair of the Lehigh County Aging and Adult Services Advisory Council and is a member of the Partnership for a Disability Friendly Community and its Steering Committee. She has been a repeat presenter for Independent Living Research Utilization on developing innovative programming for transition age youth with disabilities, and has been an adjunct community college instructor in human services and non-profit management. Ms. Beck has been living successfully with a disability since age 17. She resides in Allentown with her husband, David, and they have one daughter.
